IWC Schaffhausen is excited to announce its support for the Polaris Dawn mission, which is scheduled to launch on August 26, 2024. As part of this collaboration, IWC has designed and donated four special Pilot\u2019s Watch Chronograph Edition \u201cPolaris Dawn\u201d timepieces. These watches feature a white ceramic case and a striking space-blue dial.<\/span><\/p>\n

After the mission, the watches will be auctioned at Christie\u2019s in New York. All proceeds will go to St. Jude Children\u2019s Research Hospital\u00ae, a leading institution dedicated to treating childhood cancer and other pediatric diseases.<\/span><\/p>\n

Polaris Dawn is the first of three planned spaceflights under the Polaris Program. The mission will launch from NASA\u2019s Kennedy Space Center in Florida on August 26, 2024. The Polaris Program aims to push the boundaries of human spaceflight by testing new technologies and conducting crucial scientific research. This research will help us understand how humans can live and work in space for extended periods.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Polaris Dawn mission has selected 38 research projects from 23 partner institutions. These projects aim to improve human health on Earth and during long-duration spaceflights.<\/span><\/p>\n

The mission will be led by Jared \u201cRook\u201d Isaacman, who will serve as commander. The crew also includes retired United States Air Force Lieutenant Colonel, Scott \u201cKidd\u201d Poteet, and SpaceX Lead Space Operations Engineers, Sarah \u201cCooper\u201d Gillis and Anna \u201cWalker\u201d Menon.<\/span><\/p>\n

In honour of the mission, IWC has created four special Pilot\u2019s Watch Chronograph Edition \u201cPolaris Dawn\u201d watches (Ref. IW389111). Each watch has a 44.5-millimeter case made of white ceramic and a dark blue lacquered dial featuring a starry sky and the Polaris Dawn mission logo. The titanium case backs are engraved with the name of one of the four crew members.<\/span><\/p>\n

Once the mission is complete and the watches return to Earth, they will be auctioned at Christie\u2019s in New York. The proceeds from the auction will support the lifesaving work of St. Jude Children\u2019s Research Hospital\u00ae.<\/span><\/p>\n
