As far as we remember, LVMH\u2019s Zenith hasn\u2019t been known for dive watches in recent years. At Watches and Wonders 2024, Zenith introduced the Defy Extreme Diver. The new release is inspired by Zenith Defy Revival A3648, which is Zenith\u2019s first-ever diver\u2019s watch.<\/span><\/p>\n

The new Zenith Defy Extreme Diver is built to endure. It features a 42.5mm angular case made of brushed titanium, which is 15.5mm thick. This sturdy yet lightweight metal is known for its exceptional resistance to corrosion, especially from seawater. The ceramic unidirectional rotating bezel, set on top of the fixed dodecagonal bezel, has grooved edges for better grip. The bezel’s markings are carefully engraved and filled with Super-LumiNova, making it easy to read underwater or in low-light conditions.<\/span><\/p>\n

Titanium crown guards flank the oversized screw-down crown for added protection, and a helium escape valve further enhances the watch\u2019s functionality. Paying homage to its historical predecessor, the Defy A3648, the Defy Extreme Diver offers impressive water resistance up to 600 meters (1969 feet) \u2013 a symbolic nod to its heritage proudly displayed on the dial.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Defy Extreme Diver’s metallic sunburst dial is decorated with a signature starry sky pattern, featuring engraved four-pointed stars. The watch has large rhodium-plated, faceted central hands and rhodium-plated, faceted, applied hour markers, all coated with SuperLuminova X1.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The central seconds hand, with a star-shaped counterweight, also glows in the dark. Using three different pigments of X1 grade Super-LumiNova, the watch emits blue, green, and orange light to differentiate between various functions, enhancing its usability. The date window at 3 o\u2019clock seamlessly blends with the dial, which comes in black or blue to match the corresponding ceramic bezels.<\/span><\/p>\n

Powering the Defy Extreme Diver is the El Primero 3620-SC, a 5Hz high-frequency automatic movement derived from the renowned El Primero 3600, but featuring central seconds in a non-chronograph version. Unusually for a diver\u2019s watch with such a high depth rating, the movement is visible through a sapphire display back.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
