Panerai Luminor GMT Power Reserve Ceramica PAM01574

Panerai Luminor GMT Power Reserve Ceramica PAM01574: An Italian Icon with Refined Ceramic Touch

An Italian Icon with Global Appeal

As part of its role as Official Timekeeper of Salone del Mobile Milan, the world’s largest design exhibition since 1961, Panerai introduces its latest edition: the Panerai Luminor GMT Power Reserve Ceramica PAM01574. A creation that blends historical heritage with modern material innovation.

Heritage: From Radiomir to Luminor

Panerai has long been recognized for its expertise in luminescence. Back in the 1930s, the brand used a radium-based powder called Radiomir for instruments of the Italian Navy. In 1949, radium was replaced with tritium (Luminor), giving birth to legendary dive watches with exceptional legibility under extreme conditions.

Today, the PAM01574 remains true to its historic DNA while embracing a more modern identity with black ceramic construction and GMT complication.

Design: Black Ceramic and Blue Dial

The 44 mm case of the PAM01574 is crafted from high-tech black ceramic with a matte sandblasted finish, complemented by polished accents on the crown. Ceramic is celebrated for being lightweight yet highly scratch-resistant, first introduced by Panerai with the Radiomir Black Seal Ceramica PAM00292 in 2007.

The blue sunray-brushed dial features Panerai’s signature sandwich structure. The lower layer is coated with Super-LumiNova X2 emitting a green glow, while the power reserve indicator at 5 o’clock and the GMT hand tip glow blue. This pairing offers an elegant contrast and excellent legibility in all lighting conditions.

A beveled date window at 3 o’clock completes the modern and functional dial composition.

Movement: The P.9012 Automatic Calibre

At its heart, the PAM01574 is powered by the P.9012 automatic calibre, a robust movement designed for the modern traveler. Key features include:

  • GMT complication for a second time zone
  • 72-hour (3-day) power reserve with twin barrels
  • High frequency 4Hz (28,800 vph) for optimal precision
  • Stop-seconds mechanism for accurate synchronization
  • Bidirectional rotor winding for energy efficiency

The smoked sapphire crystal caseback reveals the calibre’s technical yet elegant architecture.
